Hanover Football 2014 Season Outlook

The Hanover Marauders are coming off of a very disappointing season last year. After starting off the 2013 season 1-1, the team members came to a bump in the road when they were suspended for a game. After that game their record was 1-2 and they then lost every other game of the season. This year looks a lot different though. After losing almost their whole starting offense and defense, the Marauders have a whole new crew starting this year. Starting a sophomore and a couple of juniors who are completely new to football, We are looking good this season. Our five returning varsity starters they are the veterans on the team.

The teams attitude is also a lot different. Captain Jack Cavallaro is leading the team with lots of confidence. Also with Junior Dom Linehan playing his first year of varsity quarterback will be put to the test. After a very impressive camp all throughout August, the Marauders are looking like a really good team.

Their first game was Friday 12, 2014 against Kingswood. The marauders started out strong defensively but lacked focus on offense. After the first half the score was 0-0. Early in the third quarter the Knights scored a touchdown and took a 7-0 lead. Later in the fourth quarter an offensive drive lead by Jack Cavallaro got the marauders on the board and tied the game at 7-7. Without anymore scoring, the game headed into overtime. Hanover decided to be on defense to start it out. After two downs the knights were on the 2 yard line. The next two downs the marauders were able to stop ball movement. Hanover then had a chance to win the game with the ball. On the second down the marauders scored a touchdown but it was taken away because of a holding penalty. On the fourth down Hanovers kicker Moises Celaya kicked a field goal to give Hanover a 10-7(OT) victory. The Marauders next game they will take on the Kearsarge Cougars.
