Position: Principal

Q: Where were you working this time last year?

A: I was Director of Academic Studies at Milford High School in Milford, Massachusetts.

Q: What would you like students to know about you?

A: I find joy in helping young people grow, learn and achieve the great things they are capable of.

Q: What are your first impressions of HHS?

A: I was impressed from my first visit by the positive tone of the school and by the quality of the interactions between the teachers and the students.

Q: What is your favorite extracurricular activity?

A: I love to go hiking with my wife and my one-year-old son, Bryer. We also love to ride horses. When it’s warm, we are all outside tending our garden.

A: Hartford Middle School.

Q: What would you like students to know about you?

A: If they ever need help, I will help them.

Q: What are your first impressions of HHS?

A: Very relaxed and tension free—other high schools can be more tense.

Q: What is your favorite extracurricular activity?

A: Acting in plays.  I will be in a play called Sylvia at Shaker Bridge Theater in Enfield, N.H., in November.

A: I started the year working at Lebanon High School and then transferred to the Junior High.

Q: What would you like students to know about you?

A: I love baseball and the Red Sox.

Q: What are your first impressions of HHS?

A: Really good positive energy!  Nice students.  Everyone is working to be academically successful.

Position: Technical Support Specialist

Q: Where were you working this time last year?

A: I was self-employed (as a technical support specialist and photographer).

Q: What would you like students to know about you

A: I am easy to work with and willing to answer any questions brought up by technical issues.

Q: What are your first impressions of HHS?

A: My first impressions of HHS were that it is a very busy place.

Q: What is your favorite extracurricular activity?

A: My favorite extracurricular activity is photography. Up to this job I had been doing photography for thirty years. I mostly do general photography and not a particular topic like sports, wildlife, etc.

Q: Do you have any favorite books that you are reading?

A: I am currently reading Game of Thrones (a fantasy novel) and I am enjoying it.

Name: Seth Goodwin

Position: Social Studies teacher

Q: Where were you working this time last year?

A: I was finishing a graduate degree at Dartmouth. My thesis was on the removal of Cherokees from Georgia. Before that, I was a Social Studies teacher at Sharon Academy.

Q: What would you like students to know about you?

A: I’m passionate about history and current events, and about bringing this into the classroom. My interest in social studies began for me as a child, and has grown through experiences such as travel.

Q: What are your first impressions of HHS?

A: The architecture, light and open space that was present, especially in the atrium, gave me a good first impression. I was also struck by the courtesy and politeness exhibited by the students and staff – how people actually knew one’s name and greeted each other.

Position: Administrative Assistant

Q: Where were you working this time last year?
A: I had just started consulting for a software company, Symphony Learning, where I wrote math questions for a year.

Q: What would you like students to know about you?

A: I’m on their side, no matter how unlikely that seems to them at the time.

Q: What are your first impressions of HHS?
A: This school is amazing and so unusual! The students exude
individuality, intelligence and integrity.

Q: What is your favorite extracurricular activity?
A: I’m a Bridge fanatic! I love games and puzzles.

Name:  Dagmar Kuehlert
Position: Teacher Intern for Mrs. Postans

Q: Where were you working this time last year?
A: I was a substitute teacher her at the high school in math, German, and Chemistry regularly, but only once for biology.

Q: What would you like students to know about you?
A: I like biology, but I studied biochemistry and molecular biology.  So please don’t ask me to hold any cockroaches.

Q: What are your first impressions of HHS?
A: Having been a substitute teacher, a parent, and now a teaching intern, I have seen many different sides of the school.

Q: What is your favorite extracurricular activity?
A: I enjoy baking and quilting.

A: Something along the lines of “if you don’t get it the first time, try again!”

Position: Math Teacher

Q: Where were you working this time last year?
A: At the New Hampshire Department of Education.

Q: What would you like students to know about you?
A: I like to participate in thought experiments.

Q: What are your first impressions of HHS?
A: The students are nice and serious about learning. I have also noticed that there is minimal bullying between students.

Q: What is your favorite extracurricular activity?
A: Thought experiments such as the famous Einstein experiment with the spaceships and the clocks.

A: I was a reference librarian at Concord Public Library.

A: I usually have candy in my desk. I also love children’s books; they’re beautiful.

A: This school is very welcoming and everyone is very nice.

A: I like running, reading, and napping.

A: Last year I was in Virginia, just outside of D.C., teaching first through fifth graders.

A: I like to travel and experience new cultures, food, and music.

Q: What are your first impressions of HHS?
A: It’s a great school with innumerable opportunities for students and staff alike. The staff is dedicated, and I’m amazed by the involvement of the student body.

A: I enjoy spending time outside, cooking, watching hockey, reading and playing trivia and board games. I’m looking forward to my next international trip!

A: Exploring other countries and cultures—I have traveled extensively, living in Tunisia, China, Saudi Arabia and Italy.

A: The Richmond Middle School

Q: What would you like students to know about you?
A: I love it when they make me laugh, which is often, and I love getting to see how much they all have matured and grown into themselves since the last time I taught them.  They also should know that I really don’t care if they call me Ms. Hilbert or Mrs. Quevedo, just as long as they say “hi” to me when I see them around.

A: I could never choose just one.  What makes me happy is seeing the students embracing the activities they love and connect with.

A: I was at my home-based business, J.T.’s Massage, as a massage therapist.

A: I have horses, bunnies, and four children.

A: I loved it . Very bright and friendly.

A: Riding horses, dancing, and 4-wheeling.

Position: Foreign Language Teaching Intern with Ms. Prendergast

Q: Where were you working this time last year?
A: I was a Dartmouth student.

Q: What are your first impressions of HHS?
A: The students are very hardworking.  They have a lot of freedom and responsibility and lead really busy lives.  As a community, they are very respectful.

Q: What is your favorite extracurricular activity?
A: I really like outdoor adventure—hiking, canoeing, and rock climbing.  I was the student director of OLE (Outdoor Leadership Experience) through the Tucker Foundation and a leader in the Dartmouth Outing Club.
