Man of the Year

We have all heard of the famous COACH, but do you actually know who he is? If you go to Hanover High School and you have not had a conversation with him, then you should run and find him and introduce yourself. You will either find him in the gym during activity period holding indoor club or in common ground 27, where you will see him talking up a storm about last night’s soccer game. Coach Callanan is one of the biggest soccer fanatics I have ever had the pleasure to meet. He coaches the unstoppable JV boy’s soccer team, but the thing is, he is not a one trick pony; he also coaches the great winter track team.

Coach Callanan has been coaching for more years than I can count. With many years under his belt there comes many records and he has plenty of his own good and bad. This year the JV soccer team contributed to two of these records. They gave coach the honor to hit his 150 win, but also gave coach his first season to have more than two losses in one season. That record is bittersweet, its amazing that over 40 years of coaching and yet he has not lost more than two games, but sadly it was broken.

To answer my question, who is Coach Callanan? There are three words that you can say that describes Coach Callanan; they are Knowledgeable, Passionate and the greatest of all KIND. My advice to you is if you see an old, tan, short man with bright white hair strolling through the halls of HHS then go and start up a conversation with him and you will see that he is the most wonderful man you will have ever met
